URGENT NEWS EARTHQUAKE IN
COLOMBIA
On January 25, 1999, an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale destroyed the cities
of Armenia and Pereira in Colombia, leaving more than 3,500 people injured and over 900
people dead. Unfortunately, these figures are increasing with every new report that we
receive from the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs. More and more injured are
being pulled from the 4,500 houses and 170 or more public buildings that were destroyed by
this devastating earthquake. These were not the only two areas affected. Many of the other
areas were in the poorest neighborhoods and the demand for assistance is overwhelming.
For every day that these relief shipments are delayed, awaiting these critically needed products, more and more injured people will die. PLEASE, don't hesitate; check your inventory and give us a call at 1-800-225-8550 Thank you for your continued support in our relief efforts for the people that we serve in the world's poorest communities. |
