Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell,
we know that it's probably magic....

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

~~The Rainbow Connection, sung by Kermit the Frog

SO YOU WANNA BE A WITCH, EH?

Well, sit right here, by my side,
and I'll tell you the secrets of the tide.
Now just get comfy, honey child,
As I sing of nature, free and wild.

But you don't have a cloak, or a pointy hat?
Bah! and Piffle! .. What's with that?
The Witch is worn within the soul,
not donned for occasion, or kept in a bowl!

When you think of Witches, you tremble at Magick?
Oh, silly girl, that is indeed tragic!

Well, take a deep breath, and hold tight to my hand,
and together we'll dream to the edge of the land.
Where forest and sky kiss the rim of the waters.
Where spirits as we claim a kinship with daughters,
of elements born before words are remembered,
where feelings and thoughts, are no longer hindered.

'Tis the everyday things that Witches are 'ware of ...
The Sun and the Moon, and the wee tiny cherub
who tugs at our heart strings and drives us to madness,
yet gives us such joy and fills us with gladness.

A soft gentle rain, nudging buds to full flower ..
Hurricane! Twister! .. such terrible power.
Candles and hearth fires, warming and scented...
Forests ablaze! ... Volcanic stacks vented!
A mantle of snow, both preserves and gives pleasure ...
Avalanche! Iceberg! ... so full of treasure.
The warmth of the Sun bringing life we so cherish ...
Bleak desert landscape, Burnt tundra .. we perish.

Now open your eyes and look closely at me.
You came here so fearful .. now what do you see?
A kindly old woman? An evil old hag?
A cloak of maturity? A dirty old rag?

Both sides of the coin .. Light and Dark we encompass.
Good and evil abide, and still walk among us.
So be very sure that a Witch you will be ...
For we own it all, you and me ... you and me!

**************************************

Love grows from our capacity to give
what is deepest within ourselves
and also receive what is deepest
within another person.
The heart becomes an ocean strong and deep,
launching all on it's tide.
My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep;
the more I give to thee, The more I have..

~~~William Shakespeare
Oh you can be what you want to be,
See what you want to see,
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.
Go where you want to go,
Do what you want to do
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.
Some folks try to tell you there are things you shouldn't do
You're not strong enough or smart enough at all,
But what seems right to them quite often
Might be wrong for you,
So be sure you try to climb
Before you get too scared you fall.
Oh, you can be what you want to be,
Learn what you want to learn,
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.
Try what you need to try,
No one should question why,
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.
Folks may say you're different,
That you've gone and lost your senses,
But the world is yours to walk in,
Go ahead and leap the fences.
And you'll see,
Believe in yourself
And the world belongs to you and me.
~~Believe In Yourself, song from Sesame Street
Positive feelings come from being honest about yourself and accepting your personality, and physical characteristics, warts and all; and, from belonging to a family that accepts you without question.
~~~ Willard Scott

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is what you are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

~~~ John Wooden
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost.
~~~JRR Tolkien - Lord of the Rings

**********************************************

Though here at journey's end I lie
in darkness buried deep,
beyond all towers strong and high,
beyond all mountains steep,
above all shadows rides the Sun
and Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the day is done,
nor bid the stars farewell.

~~~JRR Tolkien - Lord of the Rings
**********************************************
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
~~~JRR Tolkien - from the Travelling Song

************************************************

I who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon among the stars and the mysteries of the waters,
I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me.
For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the Universe.
From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return.

Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices,
for behold - all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.
Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.

And you who seek to know Me, know that your seeking and yearning will avail you not, unless you know the Mystery; for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without.

For behold, I have been with you from the beginning,
and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.

~~Poem version 'The Promise' by Starhawk

***********************************************

When winter first begins to bite
and stones crack in the frosty night,
when pools are black and trees are bare,
'tis evil in the Wild to fare.

~~~JRR Tolkien - Bilbo's Song of Winter
Imagine a miracle and you are halfway there.
