GayUniverse was created in 1995 as a free service to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered communities. It is certainly among the most popular of Gay Websites, averaging 4.7 million hits (requests for files) every month. It is Gay owned owned and operated. 

     Kevin is our Website Developer is in charge of web programming, Jim is our Web Manager and also runs our day to day operations. Judy keeps the books, pays the taxes and conducts research. Our headquarters is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA.

     We all have full time jobs, besides running Gay Universe, but one of us, usually Jim, because he works at home, is on-line every day, making sure that everything is working OK. Jim handles all email and written requests from guests and members and others interested in Gay Universe.

     Brian is 26 years old and a student at UW Milwaukee. Brian is the creator of Charlotte Fever! Brian writes passionately and lives enroute to Blockbuster. He really enjoys movies and his goal is to write screenplays professionally. He's very talented and he'll watch anything and everything to the very end!

     Jim is 44 years old, Single, Gay and out, living also in Milwaukee. He's a veteran of the U.S. Army Field Artillery (1973-1980) and manages an apartment building in Milwaukee. Jim runs the day to day operation at GayUniverse. If you have a problem he's the guy who will fix it.

     Judy is Kevin's older sister. She's 39 years old, and works as a para-legal at a law firm in Chicago, where she lives. She's a hard worker and enjoys the martial arts.  I'm trying to get her to move to Milwaukee but she's very stubborn.

     Soon after GayUniverse was created we discovered that the email addresses of the thousands of people who had posted personals were being collected and sold to spammers. To protect those email addresses Kevin has developed the system we call "Shielded Email".

     We originally intended GayUniverse to be a totally free Website, but to stay on-line and grow, we need to make GayUniverse pay for itself. Your membership helps keep GayUniverse on-line. Our goal is to provide a reliable Website that is open to the alternate lifestyles community all over the world. Because many guests cannot afford to pay for access we have kept the Chat Rooms and the Boards free and we provide membership Grants to folks who, for whatever good reason, cannot pay for membership.

     In addition, a portion of every membership payment is used to support disadvantaged children and families in the poverty stricken island nation of Haiti.

     Because so many of our guests and Members access GayUniverse with WebTV or older computers, we've kept the layout simple and we resist to urge to change anything unless it's really necessary. However GayUniverse Chat will not run on browsers that do not support frames.

      We do not actively promote GayUniverse because promotions are expensive and we can't afford it. We rely on our guests and Members to promote Gay Universe, so please tell your friends about us, promote your postings in the popular Internet search engines and add us to your Links page.
