This morning I learned that VF's beloved former press shop manager, Agostino Nigro ("Augie"), passed away at home yesterday following several years of declining health.  Augie was a prominent figure on post throughout the years making sure faculty and cadet uniforms always fit perfectly and as such indirectly helped craft VF's public image.  Even after cadets graduated, they'd make an extra effort to try and find him when returning to post, and always were greeted with a smile, hug, hearty handshake, and laugh --- and as with GEN Sanelli, Augie NEVER forgot a face!!   (He could also size you up perfectly on sight during plebe inprocessing, too -- "you 38-long, loose in da seat.  Fourty-Four in da chest.  NEXT!  Where'ya from? You like ice cream?  You playing football? Hem good. Okay, you fine. Gogogoggo. NEXT!")   He was a VF institution and such a colourful one at that.   ;)

I think Augie's proudest moment of each school year was standing under the trees at the east side of the Parade Field on Recognition Day, beaming with a father's pride watching his uniforms -- and the cadets in them --- march by for the first Regimental Review of the year.  Sure, we looked good; but Augie and his team made us look GREAT.  

Thanks, Augie.  We loved you and miss you.
