Dear Members of the Nominating Committee and Fellow Alumni,

Over the past two years I have served the Alumni Association as both
Chairman and President. I have held both of these positions before, but
this time with much more controversy.   Many Alumni, myself included, have
felt that there has been a serious erosion of the Values, Traditions and
essence of our Alma Mater.  While there is yet a long way to go, I think
that many of us have experienced a sense of hope with the appointment of
Tom Medearis as Commandant.

My service to the Alumni Association has been driven solely by my wanting
to do the very best for the Alumni and our Alma Mater. My motives have only
been selfish to the extent of my sincere dedication to the principles that
were instilled in us by our families and reinforced by our experiences at
Valley Forge. That is what has motivated me and so many others in the
pursuit of re-establishing Valley Forge Military Academy and College as the
finest institution of its kind as one that we attended and wish to see
future Alumni attend.

 But, these past two years have taken a toll on me and my family. As I
consider the possibility of serving another year of intense activity at the
Forge, I realize that I cannot commit the time and resources that are
necessary to do the job. Therefore, I respectfully decline the nomination
of Chairman of the Alumni Association for the coming year.

I am truly grateful for the support that you have shown me and, most
especially, for the friendship that you have extended.  Please accept my
best wishes to the AABOD, its officers, and to the dedicated ALUMNI of
VFMA&C.
