(Okay, it's "not critical" according to Oracle, but yet they're doing an out-of-cycle early release??? ---rick)

Oracle has issued a patch to address a recently discovered security hole affecting Mac, Windows, and Linux users. The patch represents a rare early fix release, as Oracle was already slated to release a patch in October of this year. The patch is available for download at Java.com.
Security experts believe the latest patch fully disarms the Java exploit, which made remote installation of malicious code possible. Still, users will be vulnerable to the exploit until they update their Java software.
Oracle does not mark the update as security critical, but many security experts urge users to download it and patch the security hole as soon as possible. Users downloading the new runtime may need to reload or quit their browser in order to enable Java again.
