The Ease of Being Green
Rainforest Alliance's Opportunities for Corporate Connections

Rainforests. They are lush and wild places. They conjure images of exotic animals and tribal peoples. They spark our sense of adventure. The destruction of these enchanted forests strikes a chord in people the whole world over. The extinction of species, the loss of indigenous cultures, clear cutting and global warming are all concerns that are top of mind, classroom curriculum and front page news.

The Rainforest Alliance, a fourteen-year old nonprofit organization, is at the forefront of the ongoing battle to save the world's endangered tropical forests.

A marketing partnership with the Rainforest Alliance allows corporations to associate their products and services with these magical and endangered places in a very meaningful way. From an event sponsorship to a cause-related promotional program, a marketing partnership with the Rainforest Alliance provides corporations a persuasive and powerful way to reach out and communicate with their consumers.

The Rainforest Alliance is actively seeking corporate marketing partnerships in the following areas:

Event Sponsorship

An association with the Rainforest Alliance's events is a high profile way to reach targeted and highly desirable audiences through a truly significant and uniquely personal venue.

"Smart Sounds: Music for the Planet IV"
The Rainforest Alliance's renowned musical event. On March 6, 2001 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, the Rainforest Alliance will host our fourth annual benefit concert featuring Gibson SmartWood-certified musical instruments and performances by an ensemble of amazing artists and musicians. This year, headliners will include Dr. John, Keb' Mo', Levon Helm, BR5-49, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Fabulous Thunderbirds' Kim Wilson, and many special guests! Benefit ticket prices range from $200/individual to $25,000 ticket packages. Corporate sponsors have included Gibson USA, Anheuser Busch and Pepsi. Find out more, and purchase tickets.

For sponsorship information, please contact Kristen Satterfield, Senior Manager, Special Events, at (212) 677-1900 or via email at ksatterfield@ra.org.

The Marketing Toolbox

A cause-related campaign with the Rainforest Alliance offers companies a wide range of opportunities to reach their target markets -- from kids to primary shoppers. Consumers support cause-related marketing, and it shows at the cash register.

Licensing
By placing the Rainforest Alliance's well-known frog logo on its product or advertising campaign, a corporation is able to borrow and build upon the credibility and positive public image the Alliance has built over the past decade. Supporters include: Avalanche Publishing, Bisou Bisou, Canandaigua Wine Company, Clairol, Croakies, CP Company, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Lenox, MBNA Bank N.A., Rainforest Café, and Stern's. Certain product categories cannot be accepted as licensing partners.

Web Marketing
A sponsorship of the Rainforest Alliance's Web site, which draws an estimated 20,000 users per week, is an excellent vehicle for any company to get their message noticed and stimulate consumer response. Hyperlinks throughout the site allow visitors to immediately access information on sponsors' products and services. Supporters include AT&T.

Workplace Giving
Corporations can support environmental conservation and offer their employees a way to get involved and a giving choice by holding an Earth Share workplace giving campaign. Earth Share is an alliance of over 40 of America's leading nonprofit environmental and conservation organizations, all working under one name to safeguard public health and the environment. Supporters include: Allstate Insurance, The Gap, JP Morgan, Levi Strauss, Lotus, Mobil, Nissan Motor Corp., Pitney Bowes, Time Warner and Turner Broadcasting.

Programmatic Support
A financial or in-kind donation to support the Rainforest Alliance's conservation programs is an important way that a corporation can help further global environmental efforts. Corporations that provide this vital base of financial support are important allies in the Rainforest Alliance's fight for the future of the world's endangered tropical forests. Supporters include: Chase Bank, Cloud Nine Chocolates, Liz Claiborne, JP Morgan, Origins, Newman's Own, The New York Times, Tom's of Maine and Ziff Davis.
