Beginning January 2, 2001, Sharp Rees-Stealy Rancho Bernardo will be located in a new 57,000 square foot state-of-the-art medical facility at 16950 Via Tazon Drive. The new facility will replace the medical group's current West Bernardo Drive medical center, which has been serving patients since 1986.

"We are very excited about this new facility because it will allow our physicians to continue providing high-quality care to the thousands of people who live and work in and around Rancho Bernardo," said Donald Balfour, III, M.D., president and medical director of Sharp Rees-Stealy.

The new two-story building will feature expanded parking and clinical space, allowing the medical group to add additional primary and specialty care services currently not available at the existing facility. New specialties provided include allergy, orthopedics, hematology/oncology, physical therapy, urology and pulmonary medicine.

The move to the new facility will take place between Thursday, December 28 and Monday, January 1. On December 28, the current Rancho Bernardo location will be closed for regular appointments beginning at noon, and will be closed the entire day on Friday, December 29, to reopen at the new facility on January 2.

Patients who need an appointment on either of those days should call Sharp Rees-Stealy at (858) 499-2600 to schedule an appointment at any of the other nine Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers.

The Urgent Care Center will remain open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through December 30 at the current location on West Bernardo Drive. Beginning on Sunday, December 31, Urgent Care will open at the new site on Via Tazon Drive.

In addition to its Rancho Bernardo facility, Sharp Rees-Stealy has medical centers in Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Chula Vista, Downtown, El Cajon, Kearny Mesa, La Mesa, Mira Mesa, Point Loma and San Diego.
