The Voice of the North is back in business folks, and it's business as usual in a sense.

First off, the cWo awards have been cancelled, as I prepare to re-launch the site under a new name. It will be the same content, but I'm changing the name to reflect the growth in the site. I'll have more features on the site, including sports, some music stuff, and, of course, MORE DRINKING GAMES!!!!

In the news this week... well, more importantly is what will happen this week. WWF/USA begin their court battle. Now a lot has been speculated, and barring a ruling majorly against the WWF, Vince will be airing his shows on CBS/Viacom this year. Now from what I understand, Smackdown! would run on UPN, RAW would be on TNN, and HeAT would be on MTV. Not an entirely bad plan, and there's always the possibility of CBS having specials on their network, or moving RAW there.

What will happen to ECW you ask? Well, there's always interest in wrestling, so it won't be hard to find a place to hold ECW shows. Many speculate that USA will want to have wrestling in some capacity on their network. It wouldn't shock me if USA offered Paul Heyman big bucks for the rights to air ECW. Other stations like WB may start to show interest as well.

And what of Fox? We know Rupert Murdoch has had a keen interest in putting wrestling on his network, and according to Dave Meltzer, a deal has been completed with World Championship Wrestling. The terms are unknown at this point, and this could be anything form something similar to the WWF/NBC Saturday Night's Main Event deal of the 1980's, to a separate show, to the occasional special. We'll have to wait and see.

What may be the most intriguing part of this is how all of this will affect the current setup for Canadian television. If the WWF does go to CBS, then TSN will likely have the plug pulled on thier RAW deal. If that's the case then we'll likely have Nitro running on Mondays. Now we know one thing for sure, and that's that WWF Smackdown! WILL BE on headline sports. Currently, HeAT and Livewire are on CTVSN and will likely stay there. WCW appears to be staying put, and in addition to Nitro on TSN, it looks like we may get the full 2 hours of Thunder on CTVSN, even though most places have TBS now. As for ECW, if ECW moves off TNN then we might get screwed, because I highly doubt TSN will pick it up because of CRTC standards. The only way it would happen would be if local stations such as A-Channel picked it up, and its not likely. So Paul, I know you read this, I'm begging you stay with TNN or we might not get you guys at all.

That's it for now. Next week... welll... let's just say that we've got stuff in the works

Until next time keep your stick on the ice and your beer in the cooler.
