The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance is seeking candidates for Senior
Attorney positions in the Department's Office of Counsel in Albany, New York. The
positions will be assigned to various legal functions, including the development of tax
legislation and regulations, and tax litigation work. A background in taxation
and/or litigation is preferred. The entry level salary currently ranges from $33,456
to $40,436, depending upon qualifications, plus an excellent benefit package. Final
salary upon completion of the required training period is currently $50,004. The
minimum requirement for appointment to these positions is graduation from an accredited
law school. Admission to the New York State Bar is also required as a condition for
final retention. To qualify for appointment, candidates will be required to file for
the Legal Specialties Examination, which is an evaluation of education and
