This is Huka Falls, coming off Lake Taupo. From the web page:

"Around 220,000 litres per second of pours over the cliff face, and then rushes under a pedestrian bridge (great photo opportunity here!) The water then bursts out of its rapids, over the 11 metre falls, and back into the Waikato River."

To give an idea of how much water that is, an Olympic-size swimming pool is ~ 2,500,000 litres. That means Huka Falls dumps the same volume every 11 seconds. Pictures do not come close to describing the volume and intensity of these rapids.

After Huka Falls, we ended up spending the day and night at Lake Taupo. Blaise's friend Maria had moved there with her guy Heath. They were very kind and let us stay at their place, fed us a great steak and sausage dinner and let me enjoy the animals.

This is my 'chicken gettin' stance. Slightly crouched, ready to spring either direction...

This is one of the two chickens I had cornered getting around me with ease.

Chickens aren't the smartest fowl, so when they ran into their house, they cornered themselves. Maria grabbed one to start.

I caught mine in the coop too, but brought him outside to show him off.
