Subject: Email posting from when I was 11.

Hello,

My name is Erik Txxxxx. I am currently a graduating senior in High School.
In December of 2001 (I was 11 years old) I sent an email to "
jericho@dimensional.com". The text of the email was as such:
*I wanted to know if you would give me a few viruses to start
collecting. If you have any could you please send them in
winzip files to this acount. This would be a great help for
my collection. Thanks!*
I was young and very interested in computer security. I have no idea where I
got the notion that collecting viruses was a good way to pursue my interest
in security, and I have no idea where I got the email
jericho@dimensional.com.

After that email was sent it was posted on
http://attrition.org/postal/z/023/0389.html . I am a card carrying member of
the ACLU and have deep respect for civil liberties. I do believe that you
have every right to post that email from when I was 11, and, if you were to
chose to, you also have every right to post this one as well. With that
being said I am hoping that you might consider my request to remove it. I am
still very involved in IT and am pursing a possible career in it.
Perspective hiring managers often Google the applicants name. Few will note
that the email was sent in 2001 and therefore determine that I was only 11
when it was sent and very immature. I am sincerely hoping that by shedding a
bit more light on this situation an explaining who you were dealing with you
might consider its removal. I understand and support your 1st amendment
right to post the information; I only hope that in this case your empathy
concerning the mistakes of a misguided 11 year old will win out.

Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,
 - Erik Txxxxx.

Erik,

The name in the email in question has been edited to read "E. W.-T.".

Lyger

p.s. It's "prospective," not "perspective".

That is great to hear.

As Lyger pointed out, it has been edited so as to help obscure your name
and hopefully avoid it being found on google searches. That said, I can't
begin to tell you how tempting it was to randomly send you virus
attachments over the years, just to honor your request. Even now, I find
myself wanting to attach malformed files that exploit vulnerabilities in
document handling software, malware, RATs and other pervesions of
technology. But hey, guess we're both getting older.
