The following is from a PDF I just received regarding the Ring Dance situation:

OFFICE OF THE THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION VALLEY FORGE MILITARY ACADEMY & COLLEGE

December 1, 2011

To All Alumni:

Having conferred with the Administration concerning the removal of blouses by cadets at the Ring Dance, we are issuing the following statement regarding the matter:

"The removal of the cadet full dress blouse at the Ring Dance was in keeping with current military tradition that: after all formalities of a function are completed and the official portion of the event is over, jackets are authorized to be removed when the senior officer removes his jacket. This procedure was followed, allowing cadets and guests to enjoy the informal portion of the dance.

The Administration apologies for any wrong impressions perceived that might indicate there was a breach of standards and discipline.

The cadets, faculty, staff and parents all agreed that this year’s Ring Ceremony and Dance was the best in years."

Knowing that from time to time concerns may arise, we, the officers of the AABOD, continue to support the Administration of VFMA&C in their efforts to uphold the customs and traditions of our Alma Mater and thank them for their response to the concerns of the alumni.

Sincerely,

N. Gino Banco
Chairman AABOD

Alfred J. Heyer
President AABOD
