Old Guard Dissolution

Following is a letter which was sent to our mail list on 5 April. This information was also transmitted privately to a member of the Board of Trustees.

Dear Alumni and Friends of Valley Forge:

At a recent Founders’ Old Guard board meeting, it was decided that we will cease operations on 15 April 2011.

This action was taken in light of positive developments at Valley Forge Military Academy and College. We are encouraged by the appointment of an experienced and distinguished military officer, Colonel David R. Gray, USA (Ret.), to the Office of President. We are heartened by the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Shawn Phillips, USA (Ret.), an alumnus with a distinguished military career, to the Office of Superintendent. Together with Valley Forge Military College President, Lieutenant Colonel John Church, Jr., USMC (Ret.), these men should prove capable of preserving what is best about our alma mater while driving us forward to a bright future. As they approach the final leg of their first academic year together, it appears that this team is committed to leading the finest military academy in the nation.

We urge each and every one of you to support this new administration.
