The New Mace Project Has Reached Its Goal!
The project grew out of a brief conversation during this Homecoming weekend between Bandmaster Phil Evans and several Alumni who were discussing the fragile condition of the full dress mace. That conversation resulted in the promise by those Alumni to spearhead an effort to raise the funds for a new mace. The generous outpouring of support by the following Alumni enabled the project to reach its goal of $8500:

Bandmaster Evans expressed his gratitude for the new mace. “I would like to thank all the donors and Alumni for their efforts in raising funds for the production of the new Regimental Band Mace. The goal of the Music Department at VF is to continue to make a difference in the lives of our cadets and the audiences for whom we perform. With the help and donations from Alumni and friends we will continue to see improvements in our ability to carry out our mission.”
Special thanks go to COL David Haught, USA ’77 ‘79C, John R. Rapp ‘74C, and COL Daniel J. Wolfe, USA (Ret) ’74 ‘76C for their efforts in coordinating the project to reach the goal.
The history and traditions that have been the hallmark of Valley Forge’s illustrious past will be retained by a Regimental Band that continues its proud role of leading the Corps with stirring music and, now, a beautiful new mace that will be used for many years to come.
