Ronald was killed in action on August 2, 2009, while serving in Afghanistan. His father-in-law, from Strafford, PA reported the sad news to VFMA&C on Monday morning. The information that we have at this time is that Ronald was serving with the Alabama National Guard unit, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The entire Valley Forge Community wishes this young American hero's family our most sincere condolences. Ronald is survived by his wife, Kendahl Denise; father, Ronald and mother, Katherine, who reside in Sneads Ferry, NC; and his brothers and sisters. Ronald's name will be placed in the Book of Remembrance along with the other 127 cadets of Valley Forge that have paid the highest price to be called an American. A memorial service will be held in his honor during a Sunday Chapel Service in September 2009. Further details will be made available on thewww.vfmac.edu/news_all.html. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 9.8.3.4028 Comment: Rick's Current Public Key @ http://infowarrior.org/pgpkey.txt wj8DBQFKeGU+KWZyO29ebPYRAub0AJ0eDDy92F4SO+nkyP8kkgUbk8SpYwCg4ABr IGv9qHtnd/oMlQFZtHpszkE= =XMoT -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From rforno at infowarrior.org Mon Aug 24 01:25:13 2009 From: rforno at infowarrior.org (Richard Forno) Date: Sun, 23 Aug 2009 21:25:13 -0400 Subject: [sticklist] - Capshields & Leadership Detail Observation Message-ID: <5485FA2E-5BF8-44ED-92F6-6046B5C012CC@infowarrior.org> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Gentlemen, An interesting item on the VF home page that I wanted to bring to your attention. If you go to the Photo Scrapbook under "Leadership Detail Graduation" and look carefully, you will notice some Cadet officers and NCOs graduating from the 2009 leadership detail who are NOT wearing capshields at their graduation parade -- thus indicating that they have not yet mastered their Capshield Requirements. Specifically, I refer you to photos #112 and #198 for a Regimental Captain apparently without a capshield; photo #176 shows a Cadet First Lieutenant without a capshield, and photo #189 shows a Cadet junior NCO without a capshield on this chapel cap. I have no further information on why this has happened, but should an official explanation offered, I will relay it to the Sticklist.
