The presentation has been broken up into five parts and can be viewed using QuickTime. If you do not have QuickTime installed on your computer, there is a link to download the program on the presentation welcome page. The full length of the combined presentations plus question & answer periods is well over 3 hours. The video is not recommended for dial-up internet connections because the five video files are extremely large. If you have questions, please contact me at gfrantz at vfmac.edu, or 610-989-1577 or Jennifer Myers at jmyers at vfmac.edu, or 610-989-1345. Enrollment is down, barracks are falling apart from decades of neglect, and there is little endowment to support upkeep and keep tuition lower. We were asked by fellow alumnus Walt Mosetter ?77C to use www.continentalonline.org to promote the barracks latrine renovation plan that will only cost about $330K. A special, restricted fund, entitled The Lafayette Hall Latrine Project, has been created to collect contributions that will not be used for anything other than this project. While the website does not have any official affiliation with the school, we believe that this project deserves our attention and support. Gentlemen, take a look at the photos and text located under the Goal link on the homepage and ask yourself, ?Can I make a difference to make Valley Forge a better place for future alumni?? The alumni of the future deserve better than what the current conditions provide. We can all have our opinions on the issues with the current administration and BOT. However, the bottom line is the school will not succeed unless we the alumni step in and get the school back on its feet. If the trend continues, we may no longer have a place to return for Homecoming. We can all complain and state the obvious or we can start supporting the cadets by fixing up the infrastructure at the school and donating the resources needed to sustain Valley Forge for future generations. The choice is yours, but time is running out. If you have any questions about the project, please do not hesitate to contact either Walt at mosetter at aol.com, John at jrapp at stei.com or Tom at balishfam at aol.com. Contributions should be sent directly to the school and please make a notation that it is for the Lafayette Hall Latrine Project. Thank you, again, for joining us in this project. We received it from a current parent, and believe it important to pass it along to the VF alumni community as an item of interest. Cheers, - - Rick Forno, '90 '92C < - > Dear All, We have announced this date that VFMA&C will end participation in the United States Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC). VFMA&C has fostered a mutually beneficial relationship between the Army and its Corps of Cadets over the years. This was a tough, but necessary decision. This decision in no way should be misconstrued as an effort to deemphasize our military program at Valley Forge, but rather a reallocation of resources. Unlike public schools, the Corps of Cadets at VF is led, trained and administered by our VF Commandant and his staff, not by the JROTC. For a number of years the JROTC program at VF focused on teaching life-skills programs to the cadets in the Academy. Because VFMA&C has increased its emphasis on leadership and character development throughout its Corps in recent years, the school determined that the JROTC Program is no longer an essential part of the curriculum. We intend to nurture our important relationships with the Army in ways that are most beneficial to both of our institutions. We will also continue the employment of the JROTC staff as appropriate in order to preserve important programs such as rope courses, repelling, and rifle team and drill competitions. We recognize the value which JROTC provided in the past and we appreciate its numerous contributions to Valley Forge over the years. We are confident that this is the right decision for Valley Forge moving forward.
