 It's hard to find a Web service that doesn't offer a free
 trial. But just try canceling. We did, and the results
 weren't always pretty.

Two quick observations:

First, any service that offers an easy sign-up via the Internet should
also offer an easy sign-off via the Internet -- it should never be
necessary to pick up the phone.

Second, if the general principle behind the first point isn't enough,
then re-read Tom's article and consider how it would have played out
if he couldn't use a phone.
