Message-ID: http://attrition.org/security/rant/invest01.html Sat Nov 1 2008 20:40:13 Lyger Anyone who has ever been responsible for the research, approval, or purchase of a "security system", whether it be a spam filter, web filter, antivirus software, firewall, NAC, or any one of a plethora of other options, probably knows what a daunting task it can be. Dozens of vendors vie for your attention with dozens of options for each product they offer, and examining every detail of every option of every product is pretty much impossible unless you have a full-time team dedicated to nothing but product analysis and testing. For smaller shops, there should be a way to make a few educated decisions about which vendor is best suited for company needs. Note the word "suited". When considering a product or vendor, it's all about "suitability". Just like the stock market. [.] By my own estimation, I have about 400 times more experience in the security industry than I do as an investor in the stock market. The Twilight Series is a collection of four books, with an incomplete fifth available on the author's web site, (a retelling of the first which was leaked). The series follows a pair of dissimilar, almost star-crossed lovers, Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan, and the beginning of their journey together. Translated into 20 languages, the books have sold over 17 million copies worldwide, and stayed on the New York Times BestSeller List for over 140 weeks. A motion picture based on the first novel will be released later this month (oh look, trailers!). The first installment of the series, Twilight, surrounds Bella's move from Arizona to Washington, where she moves in with her father, the local Sheriff, and starts a new school. Bella meets Edward Cullen and they fall in love. She begins to uncover some of his secrets. His family welcomes her with open arms... mostly. As relationships with age disparity go, this one takes the cake. Both are high school students; Bella is independent, intelligent, and thoughtful. Edward's family is wealthy and secluded. He is a bit mysterious and appears to be of similar age (but is actually obscenely older). Of course they're both attractive. Oh, and he's dead. [...]
