About
CFF

Picardie,  France

This year, another exciting component has been added to the traditional auction concept. The Chateau de Remaisnil, an XVIII Century Historic Monument, situated in an unspoilt corner of the Picardy landscape of Northern France, is up for sale. The owners, generous supporters of the "Winemasters" event for many years, would like a piece of the sale price to go towards finding a cure for CF.

The historic Chateau, with the ambiance of an elegant country home, is currently a luxurious 20-bedroom hotel. It offers easy access to each of Paris, London and London, and is located near to Amiens (home of the largest gothic cathedral in France) as well as the battlefields and museums of World War I and of medieval times

Here is how the auction of the Chateau will benefit both the buyer and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Depending upon the sale price, The CF Foundation will receive part of the proceeds as the buyers denotation, with the percentage dependant upon the sale price. For example, if the 35-acre retreat sells for $ 2.5 million, the buyer will write out a tax-deductible check for 5% of the total sale price directly to the CF Foundation, and the balance will be payable to the seller. As the sale price increases, so does the percentage to CFF." At a sale price of  $3.5 million-$4 million, 25% of this increment goes in the tax deductible check. After $4 million the charitable contribution is 50%, and any amounts over $5 million goes wholly to CFF. We are accepting bids on the Chateau de Remaisnil from March 3rd to April 21st, auction closes at 12:00:00 PM PST.

Also, in conjunction with this year's "Winemasters," winebid.com is featuring at least 20 rare wine lots. These lots will be up for auction on winebid.com between April 6 and May 7, 2000. For more information about "A Culinary Evening with the California Winemasters," please contact Barbara or Katherine at so-calif-la@cff.org.
