The Government of the British Virgin Islands is working to ensure that the British Virgin Islands is Y2K compliant before the end of 1999. It is also ensuring that Y2K contingency plans are in place for all Government departments and critical sectors.

Map of the British Virgin IslandsOne of the critical areas that the Government is ensuring is Y2K compliant is the tourist industry; along with those facilities and utilities that would affect tourists and the population of the BVI if Y2K problems occurred.

These critical areas include electricity, telephones, the airports, airlines, water, fuel, food, emergency services, hospital, medical centres, and the banks.
