The Digital Age

"I can't wait till they get that information super highway up!"
Thats a phraphrased qoute from an old friend of mine. I'm sure 75% of
Americans are just as disillusioned as he was. The media and the government
have subjected Americans to billion dollar ad campaigns and bills trying to
force society into the use of computers. For what? To educate? To help
enlighten Americans? Hardly. Lets explore this idea. First, lets look at the
hacker. My school recently gained full internet access. The largest concern
of teachers and several of the system admin's is intruders. Who installed
this fear? Unix guru's on the net? Not even close. Shows like 20/20 who
continuously push the idea that hackers are big bad teens who's only goal
is fucking you over. Gee, that seems to better describe the media.
Freedom speakers.
There are the few who speak the truth and fight for it. Normally
those people are buried or their public image is destroyed. Beware, there
are also those who claim to be something their not.
The NSA is still around.
The FBI is still a threat.
The CIA is not on your side.
Most of all, Al Gore is NOT your friend.
Because of such people, the truth tends to fall on deaf ears. We
are taught from the beginning to trust the government and that we're the
best their is. We are told that we're creative, imaginative, new thinkers.
We have been so manipulated that we shall never experience 'true' freedom.
So what the fuck does this have to do with the digital age?
Everything. The digital age snuck up on the controllers like a plague.
People BECAME inventive, true imagineers. It created people like Phiber
Optik, Phillip Zimmerman, and Emaneul Goldstein. However, 2 of the above
people are either in jail or facing jail charges. For what ?! Being truth
speakers. Was there an outcry when Mark Abene was brought down for some
ludicris charge? No, nobody knew anything until it was long over, but who
cared? Americans? They were too busy dealing with the distractions the
government gave them. There's a moral to this story boys and girls. Inform,
teach, explore. Don't gain the elitest attitude that only the few computer
guru's deserve the k-nowledge. That will get society nowhere. If something
is not done to show Americans the light, then it will all go to hell.
All computers will turn into entertainment systems. Inventiveness will be
left to the evil, who's only goal is to get money from you. If you are in
disbelief, just turn on your T.V. Didn't MTV start out as a new media form?
Now-a-days, theres about .1% M in MTV, and about 99% ads and manipulation.
Lets give a wakeup call to the world. Lets make it big and loud.
NOW, not tomorrow.
