Errata: Qualys Spams

Several people reported receiving this newsletter, and do not remember subscribing. The fact that there is no e-mail address to reply to in order to ask how the email address was obtained, and since their privacy policy makes you write a conventional letter or call them to find out, this is most assuredly spam. When I sign up to web sites, I use very distinct email addresses to track who I gave my information to and when.

Testing their subscription system, they do not send a confirmation mail requesting a second opt-in action (e.g., reply, click a link). They do send a mail saying you are now subscribed, which I never received originally. This makes it pretty clear that my address was harvested or purchased and added to their system via another mechanism.
