While running the Attrition Defacement Mirror, we found out that some security companies were using the mirror to solicit new customers. This blatant ambulance chasing is pathetic and represents the worst of the security industry.

This was sent to at least TWO admins of recently defaced servers. The most amusing part is, someone responded to my complaint but sent the response to me instead of Greg.

It has come to our attention that you are soliciting business from
people/companies that have recently experienced intrusions and had their
web pages defaced. You are either preying on these people via the
Attrition.org mirror/mail list, or another mirror such as Safemode or
Alldas.

This is extremely sleazy and speaks poorly of you and your company. Do you
also chase ambulences and solicit them for legal or outsourced health
care?

In short, quit. We will be posting your mail and the relevant information
on our Errata pages (www.attrition.org/errata) and notifying various
security professionals who see this act as deplorable. We have also CC'd
the Better Business Bureau as the first step in filing a formal complaint
against your company.
