The current version contais a flaw that can be used by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the CVS server under the user id the CVS server runs as. Anonymous read-only access is sufficient to exploit this problem. For the stable distribution (woody) this problem has been fixed in version 1.11.1p1debian-8.1. For the old stable distribution (potato) this problem has been fixed in version 1.10.7-9.2. For the unstable distribution (sid) this problem will be fixed soon. We recommend that you upgrade your cvs package immediately. Upgrade Instructions - -------------------- wget url will fetch the file for you dpkg -i file.deb will install the referenced file. If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for sources.list as given below: apt-get update will update the internal database apt-get upgrade will install corrected packages You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the footer to the proper configuration.
