Allaire Security Bulletin (ASB99-05) Allaire Forums Security Issues Originally Posted: March 30, 1999 Summary A few security related issues have been identified that directly relate to Allaire Forums 2.0.4 and earlier. These issues have been addressed with the maintenance release 2.0.5 of the product, available at the URLs below. Issues A number of enterprise databases now support the ability to send multiple SQL statements in a single query. Additional parameter validation has been added to Forums 2.0.5 to protect against the misuse of dynamic query parameters. Previous versions of Forums installed a file that allows view access to other files residing on the server. Forums 2.0.5 removes this file. Earlier versions of Forums does not universally enforce user authentication of templates. Forums 2.0.5 enforces authentication on all templates. Affected Software Versions * Allaire Forums 2.0.4 and earlier What Allaire is Doing Allaire has released a 2.0.5 version that addresses and fixes all of the issues highlighted above.
