so after four days of using google, you can't find an answer to your
question? i'd say you are lying to me, or aren't thinking outside the box
and keep running into the same search results.

what's your question, let me see what google finds for me.

i'm not very familiar with the home entertainment units that manage
tv/net/whatever. what exactly do you mean by "brick mode".

and realize, if a device/product is new to the market, there will be
little information on it, let alone on how to make it do things it
shouldn't (if that is what you mean by getting it out of mode into
another).

with hardware hacks like that (speaking based on all the cable boxes i
have seen/read about), you almost always have to go with a commercial
(shady) solution. all the spam you see about descrambling cable boxes or
hacking dvd players with physical mods etc. 99.99% of the population can't
do the electronics work needed to change the box like that, and on top of
that, it often requires specialized chips that are coded to match the
device.

that would also explain why you couldn't find much on google about it.

well i read if it is linux based like tivo it might be able to be
hacked...there's all kinds of stuff online about hacking tivo...grrr...but
even if we got a filter or descrambler i don't know if it would work since
the box is already zapped...

well sure, tivo has been out for a couple years. people have had time to
hack away at it and do neat things. your box appears to be a lot newer.

have you found any tech docs that suggest it runs linux?

page times out, heh

well, this post begins to scratch the surface of whats under the hood but
doesnt even give you a confirmed OS. at this point its clear why you cant
find the information, no matter what you search for.
