Positive
identification We are registered with site identification
authorities. This enables your browser
to confirm our site's identity before any transmission
is sent. This means your data reaches your
intended target. Also, your browser can notify
you (prior to sending any personal information)
if the potential receiving site looks suspicious
and should be avoided.
Data
encryption We utilize industry-standard encryption
technology to scramble critically sensitive information
like your credit card number and your name and
address as it travels over the Internet.
If
you use a "security-enabled" browser (Microsoft
Internet Explorer version 2.1
or
greater, or Netscape Navigator version 2.0 or
greater), the payment
information
you send us is encrypted, making it extremely
difficult to read
even
if it is wrongly intercepted.

know any information about you. We might
be able to ascertain what type of computer you
are using, but beyond that, our use of cookies
is designed only to provide you with a better
experience when shopping.

Help
Protect Yourself
If
you use a security-enabled browser (such as Microsoft
Internet Explorer version 2.1 or greater, or
Netscape Navigator version 2.0 or greater) paying
attention to two browser features will decrease
the chances for the unintended or fraudulent
use of your personal information:
1.Browser
security settings Your browser security settings
are your first line of defense to stopping The
ft or unwanted viewing of confidential information.
The most popular browsers offer the
ability to receive an alert if any of the following
happen or are about to happen: changing between
secure and insecure transmission modes receiving
an invalid site identification for the site to
which you are about to transmit sending a transmission
over an "open" or unsecured connection Check
the settings of your browser security features
to see all the checks that are possible and those
that are currently in place.
2.Browser
security signals The presence of security measures
surrounding the entry of data on a web page is
identified in two ways on your browser:
the
URL identifying the page will always begin with
"https://" versus the normal "http://" a security
symbol to indicate operation in a mode that supports
secure transmissions a "closed lock" icon
is present in the bottom right-hand corner of
your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser screen
an "unbroken key" icon appears in the lower left-hand
corner of the Netscape Navigator browser
screen
Change
your Password!
One
of the smartest things you can do to protect
yourself is to change your password regularly.
You can do so by choosing Customer Care, Edit
My Customer Profile.
Passwords
are harder to "break" if they are eight or more
digits long, contain both letters and numbers
and if the digits do not repeat.
What
if you suspect unauthorized charges?
In
the highly unlikely event that you discover unauthorized
charges on your credit card within 60 days of
your purchase, here's what to do:
1.Promptly
contact your credit card company and report the
unauthorized charges. Ask to speak to a representative
of the company's fraud department. They can inform
you of the company's fraud claim process and
determine whether or not to charge you a personal
liability fee.
2.If
your credit card company: (a) determines that
the charges were fraudulent charges resulting
from your online purchase, and (b) holds you
liable for any of the unauthorized charges, contactus
immediately. For your convenience, you can contact
us by e-mail or by mail. In order to helpyou,
we will need the following information:
Your name ,Daytime phone number ,Billing address
A
copy of the credit card statement in question
(please circle fraud charges)
Proof
of your credit card company's fraud determination
and liability fee A description of the incident
Send
e-mail to Store@The Website District.com or mail
your letter to:
3.We'll
protect you. For security purposes, our fraud department
will confirm your claim. If the fraudulent
charges resulted through no fault of your own, we
will then credit your credit card up to a maximum
of $50 and confirm our reimbursement to you.
Cookies
If
you have set your browser to notify you before
accepting a cookie, you will notice that we request
a cookie be set. There's a good reason for this
and we want to explain why.
We
have built a website that enhances the one-to-one
relationships we have with customers. We will
continue to build a website that uses the best
technology and enhances your experience, but
doesn't overuse new technology for technology's
sake. We think we have balanced these things
to bring you the most value, partly through the
use of cookies.
First
of all, what is a cookie?
We're
asking permission to place a very tiny piece
of text on your computer's hard drive. This is
called a cookie. If you agree, then your browser
adds the text in a small file. Its purpose is
to let us know when you visit our site.
This cookie, by itself, only tells us that a
previous visitor has returned. It doesn't tell
us who you are, or your email address or anything
else personal. If you want to give us that information
later, that's your choice.
Why
are cookies so persistent?
If
the web server does not detect a "Unique ID"
for your trip to our site, it will generate one
and send it to your computer in the form of a
cookie. So, if you accept the cookie, you only
get the cookie once. If you do not accept the
cookie, the server will try to send you one with
every hit until you accept it. This means every
page and item on that page you request from us
will come with a cookie request unless you already
have one.
Are
all cookies the same?
No.
On our site we have two kinds; temporary and
traffic log cookies. "Temporary" cookies
are necessary to maintain the user session. These
cookies tell our server which page to pull up
next. The "traffic log" cookie tells us
what pages are being used and which one's aren't.
This helps us make improvements to the site to
better meet your needs and cut down on pages
that don't get used.
So
what does a cookie do for me, the visitor?
Special
offers from ad banners and special access areas
of the site will be easier to use with the cookietechnology.
Overall, cookies help us give you a better website
to use, by letting us monitor what's working
and what isn't through site traffic analysis.
In the future, a cookie will allow you to tell
us what information you prefer to read and what
you don't.
Why
are you telling me all this?
We
value the relationships we have with our customers
and future customers, so we respect concerns
they may have about privacy or a file being added
to their computers. We hope we've helped you
understandwhy we ask you to accept cookies. And
how accepting a cookie in no way gives us access
to your
computer
or any personal information about you. The benefit
gained from their proper use makes cookies worthwhile.
