How It All Began...

[ Intro | Purpose ]

Hackers.Com was started in 1994 by HackingWiz as a home on the world wide web for his popular dial-up underground BBS, The Hackers' Haven, which has been in operation since 1983.  Hackers.Com represented not only a BBS that freely distributed information, but a place for freedom of speech and freedom of the mind that allowed knowledge to pass through it unfiltered.  He then hired Hyper Viper who became the head web master for Hackers.Com and added his own unique talents to the site.  From the beginning Hackers.Com represented the ethical side of the underground, the side that penetrated systems not to destroy, but to create knowledge in the minds of everyone who viewed its contents.

After several years of operation, the domain grew and became more well-known throughout the Internet as a place where hackers, phreaks, and the like could go to expand their minds or just hang out and interact with others like them.  A hacker by the name of Revelation, who had founded and been operating an underground group since the late 80's and early 90's, soon came across Hackers.Com.  He recognized the ethics behind it and decided that it was the ideal place to host the web site for his group, LOA (Legion Of the Apocalypse), named in honor of the Legion Of Doom/Hackers.  The LOA site ran for quite a while and began to solidly establish its own presence on the Internet.  After a while, Revelation approached HackingWiz with an idea that would begin to shape Hackers.Com as we know it today.  He proposed a merger between LOA and Hackers.Com, forming one all-purpose underground domain.  The merger was finalized and production began on the new site.  Production dragged on for several months, and during this time Revelation met Lady Vyxen.

He immediately recognized her astonishing talents and introduced her to HackingWiz and Hyper Viper.  They agreed that they couldn't let her go, and signed her up as the fourth staff member of Hackers.Com.  Meanwhile, site production dragged on and the site wasn't developing as smoothly as originally planned.  The site was too big for just two people (Hyper Viper and Revelation) to create.  Revelation began discussing the problems with his good friend, Silicon Toad.

Silicon, who was having problems maintaining his site (The Infinity Void) on his own (maintenance was getting a little out of hand), agreed to help out, and completely re-designed and developed the majority of Hackers.Com.  During development, Silicon and the rest of the staff agreed that a full merger between Hackers.Com and The Infinity Void would be the best route.  Not only would this combine two great sites, but it would bring loads of valuable information and interactive features to the knowledge-hungry public.

And that's where we stand today, almost a decade since it all began.

To this day the original LOA members (Phreaked Out, Fallout, and Phreak Show) still work closely with Hackers.Com in their spare time and contribute their talents to Hackers.Com projects and services.  As you can see, Hackers.Com was founded on ethics and the idea that knowledge is power, and it will continue to represent those beliefs to the best of its ability.

The Reason and the Rhyme...

Top

Hackers.Com has many purposes in its existence, the most prominent of which are the following:  we want to spread knowledge and information to all who want to learn...information about computers, telephones, the underground, and technology in general.  But, we plan to do this and uphold the old school hacker ethics at the same time.  We refuse to promote and distribute information on destructive and ignorant things i.e. carding, viruses, software pirating, e-mail bombing etc.  Hackers have undeservedly held a tarnished name for too long, and we plan to build that name back up.  Instead of thinking 'criminal' or 'vandal' when hearing the word hacker, we want the public to think of 'knowledge seekers' and 'curious wanderers'.  We are hoping to gradually realize this goal throughout our existence, and we have the support of many prominent underground individuals and groups who also believe in our cause.

Destruction and unethical ignorance has plagued the underground too long, let's bring back the old school ways of creation and system penetrating for the knowledge that it is holding, not for the destruction of that knowledge nor the possessors of it.  No, we don't consider ourselves to be the saviors of the hacking world, and we know this site isn't going to change the realm of hacking and the underground. All we want to do is our part, whatever that ultimately turns out to be. The goals that we strive for are not only the backbone of HDC, but the backbone of the entire underground community.
