Over the past few years there has been much publicity regarding the impact of Year 2000 on computer and information systems. Some computer hardware, applications and operating systems use date fields incompatible with dates beyond December 31, 1999. When Agama® was released in 1997, it was designed to be Year 2000 compliant. One non-critical report enhancement was required and was completed in Version 2 released on May 1, 1998. Please confirm you are using the latest version of the software.

Leap Year Calculations

Agama recognizes that the year 2000 is a leap year.

Compliance of Other Software and Operating Systems

We have had many inquiries regarding operating systems, BIOS, network and other third party software compliance. Agama Software Inc. can make no statement of compliance about these systems, and refer you to the relevant distributor or manufacturer.

Syspro (Pty) Ltd, the manufacturers of IMPACT Award and IMPACT Encore, have produced and tested their Year 2000 compliant systems. The versions are IMPACT Award 3.2 and IMPACT Encore 3.2.

Testing to a standard

The Year 2000 compliance has been developed and tested in accordance with International standards (*see note below) under our ISO 9001 certification.

In the cases where two digit years are requested, stored or printed, a year less than 50 will represent 2000+ otherwise it represents 1900+. For example a two digit year ‘98’ represents 1998 and a two digit year of ‘12’ represents 2012. Also note that ‘00’ represents 2000.

In all other cases four digit years are stored and used appropriately.

Leap year calculations

IMPACT Award 3.2 and IMPACT Encore 3.2 recognize that the year 2000 is a leap year.

User definable date formats

In the case of our free format stationery (invoices, statements, labels, factory documentation etc.). IMPACT Award 3.2 and IMPACT Encore 3.2 allow you to select and define the date format that you require. There are many formats that can be defined.

For example you could print the 1st January 2000 in one of the following formats:

01/01/00 - May be very confusing

01/01/2000 - Clearer with a four digit year

Sat 1 Jan 2000 - Day of week, month (in words) and four digit year

* The appropriate British standard is BSI DISC PD 2000 whilst the American ANSI standard has not been validated by all the US Federal procurement bodies. However the US Department of Defense and NASA have formally adopted a year 2000 Compliance standard.
