Indianapolis Colts
RB-Edgerrin James has been named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month and
AFC Offensive Player of the Month for his performance in the Colts’
four November games. James
is the only player to ever win both honors at the same time.
James is the first rookie to
win a conference Player of the Month award since it was established in
1988. James also earned the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month Award
for September. James
totaled 82-443, 2 TDs rushing and 24-262, 2 TDs receiving in the
Colts’ four November games, including three 100+ rushing outings.
The Colts posted their first
undefeated November since 1975. James opened the month with 20-109
rushing/7-90, 1 TD receiving against Kansas City. He followed up the performance with his third consecutive
100+ rushing game in the Colts 27-19 win over the New York Giants.
James was 16-108 rushing and 5-72 receiving.
James earned AFC Offensive
Player of the Week for his game against Philadelphia.
He totaled 22-152, 2 TDs rushing/5-47, 1 TD receiving in only
three quarters of action. He
had 117 yards rushing in the first quarter. James was 24-74 rushing/7-53 receiving against the New
York Jets last week in the RCA Dome.
James ranks first in the NFL
in rushing attempts, first in AFC yards, second in the NFL, T2nd in
AFC rushing touchdowns, T4th in the NFL. His seven 100+ rushing games top the NFL, and the total set
new Colts rookie record and ranks as the second highest seasonal total
in club history (8, Eric Dickerson, 1988).
