Psalms 139:14~~

The Mayflower sailed from Plymouth, England, September 6, 1620 with 102 people aboard. On November 11, 1620, after 66 days at sea,
the Mayflower came to a rest off Cape Cod-far from the Hudson River in which what became New York State, its intended destination.

The First Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. The meal was shared between the Pilgrims and the Native Americans with foods whose origin was North American such as pumpkins, cranberries, corn, and of course the native bird known as wild turkey. The pilgrims harvest would not have been so plentiful were it not for the Native Americans who taught them what would grow well in their new land.

~~"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts
with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."
Psalms 100:4~~

Thanksgiving today is a time to give thanks for one's blessings , whatever they may be..

"Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude to God, our Creator and Provider, whose guidance and care go before us...and whose love is with us forever."

Thanksgiving On The World Wide Web

Giving Thanks
(Author Unknown)
For the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped,
For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped,
For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb,
For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home --
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

For the trade and the skill and the wealth in our land,
For the cunning and strength of the workingman's hand,
For the good that our artists and poets have taught,
For the friendship that hope and affection have brought --
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

For the homes that with purest affection are blest,
For the season of plenty and well-deserved rest,
For our country extending from sea unto sea;
The land that is known as the "Land of the Free" --
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

Did you know....
In 1817 New York State had adopted Thanksgiving Day as an annual custom. By the middle of the 19th century many other states also celebrated a Thanksgiving Day. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln appointed a national day of thanksgiving. Since then each president has issued a Thanksgiving Day proclamation, usually designating the fourth Thursday of each November as the holiday.

And please remember this holiday, to give to those less fortunate. ;)
