CUSTODIAL KILLING  

                 On 19 August 1998,  Mr  Mohammad  Amir  Wani  resident  of village Prang 
                 Kangan, District Srinagar (Indian Held Kashmir) was picked up along with 
                 a group of innocent Kashmiris by  the  Indian forces. The individual was 
                 rulthlessy tortured who alter died in custody of Indian forces. His dead 
                 body was handed over to his relatives on 19 August 1998. Locals of Prang 
                 Kangan area took out a procession  in  protest  to the said incident but 
                 they were subjected  to  indiscriminate  firing  by  the Indian Security 
                 Forces. As a result another  innocent  person namely Mr Muhammad Maqbool 
                 Butt was killed  while  Ms  Maryam  Begum  and  Ms  Khadeeja  Begum were 
                 seriously wounded. No action has  been  initiated  by the administration 
                 against the high handedness of Indian Security Forces.  
               

                 ILLEGAL DETENTION  

                 On the night between 28/19 August  1998,  Mr Ghulam Rasool Khan, aged 80 
                 years S/O Mr Abdul  Kabir  Khan  resident  of  Liver  Phalgam,  District 
                 Srinagar (Indian Held Kashmir) was arrested  from Kanyar Srinagar by the 
                 Special Operations Group of  J&K  Police.  His  family members were also 
                 beaten/pressurised by the  Special  Operations  Group  personnel to hand 
                 over Mr  Khan's  daughter  and  daughter-in-law  to  them  or  face  the 
                 consequences. Despite the complainants requests no action had been taken 
                 by the local administration..
