THE FORCE sighted!
Fri, Apr 02, 99 12:00:00 PM CST

Apparently the use of the "Force" is not limited to Luke Skywalker. It has been seen at the chat server, irc.psychic.com. When asking the spokesperson of irc.psychic.com, MagicFX, how this came to be, he responded, "Basically, all that was required to bring the force to irc.psychic.com was to properly connect to the Force daemon." The Force daemon is hosted by The Empire's mainframe computer (currently ran by Yoda's great-great-great-great-great-to-the-7th-power grandson). The secret protocol used to connect was socially engineered out of R2D2 by MagicFX. Once the protocol was known, a client was coded by MagicFX to use the ForceIP protocol, a connection was established and the password of "UseTheForceLuke" allowed administrator access. MagicFX was then able to divert a substantial amount of The Force through IP tunneling in order to make irc.psychic.com even cooler. Net affect on The Force as a whole? Zilch. According to MagicFX, "...as far as I can tell, The Force is unlimited in capacity." At any rate, irc.psychic.com is worth your time to visit.

April Fools Star Wars Style
Fri, Apr 02, 99 12:17:19 AM CST

For those of you who visited this address on Thursday and were greeted with "TheBorg.Net"... never fear. Our site was not hacked. It was simply some April Fools fun from some of the TFN staff.

It appears other sites and news outlets got into the act. Some Star Wars related pranks (if they weren't pranks, the joke is on us) included a Cinescape report on a Star Wars TV show in development based on the 'Jedi Academy' novels, a Texas radio station announcing a showing of TPM that night, a site offering a 900Mb download of the entire Episode 1 film and Mr. Showbiz announcing a remake of 'Clockwork Orange' by Lucas, Speilberg and McGregor.
