FBI raids Bay homes in hunt for hackers

CLOVERDALE - Federal agents descended on


                The Department of Defense is hacked some
                250,000 times each year, according to a Pentagon
                study that simulated computer crimes to test the
                vulnerability of military networks. In 1996, as many
                as 162,500 "break-ins" occurred - about 65
                percent of the 250,000 total attempts to get in,
                according to the General Accounting Office.
