Okay, to set the record straight, I happen to know what CPM is actually
afflicted with.

Carolyn has Herpes Viral Encaphalitis (HVE), a viral infection that
affects the medial temporal lobe. This causes difficulties in forming new
memories. In severe cases, the individual can form no new memories. These
individuals are destined to live in the past.

Carolyn's case appears to be mild--she simply has a hard time remembering
things and keeping things straight in her head. This causes her to appear
empty-headed and clueless. I'll make no judgement as to her actual
intelligence levels...
